Multilateral cooperation promotes transnational cooperation

The focus of the cooperation is interoperability and standardisation – in particular the further development of the Asset Administration Shell, the digital twin and edge computing. Testbed activities are used to test the concepts in real settings. The topic of cyber security is also integrated into the activities.

Background

The first major cooperation meeting between Plattform Industrie 4.0 and the IIC took place in 2016. In the same year, representatives of the platforms agreed on a roadmap in a meeting in Zurich. At Hannover Messe 2017, the partners presented a first joint demonstrator exhibition focusing on cyber security, interoperability and international cooperation. In the same year, IIC and Plattform Industrie 4.0 organised the "IIoT World Tour" in Italy, Singapore and the USA, among others. At the Hannover Messe 2019, the partners reaffirmed their cooperation and sharpened their focus.

Placing Industrie 4.0 at G20 level

The dialogue between the 20 leading industrialised nations (G20) constitutes one of the central platforms for Germany. In December 2016, Germany took over the presidency of the G20 and put Industrie 4.0 on the agenda. A conference was held in Berlin in March 2017 to network Industry 4.0 initiatives. Over 500 representatives of the G20 countries from the fields of politics, business and civil society came together in the capital. As the host country's central network, Plattform Industrie 4.0 contributed its expertise to the conference planning and with numerous panel contributions. Topics included global framework conditions, standards and success factors.
